The judge’s comment made me laugh: “That’s a LADY skating.” I don’t know why, just the way he said it xD Maaaaan this makes me proud to be a fellow Japanese person. Nessun Dorma is a beautiful piece < 3 love her outfit too! Gorgeous!!

Wow that was wonderful! I tend to think the japanese/korean ladies who dominate the competition at present lack attack and personality, it’s almost too fluid, but Shizuka has “bite” and energy as well as grace. The original and still the best ;)

She is so talented… I don’t know how she just got out of a layback at 2:47 and had a clear head to do the jump at 2: 52. I would
still be dizzy! ;-) Loved the ending, too… :D

i don’t know whether it is true or not but read it somewhere and they said that shizuka changed the programme easier than the original just before she went for the lp becasue sasha and irina fell on the ground.

well kwan didn’t win in 1998 and 2002 and slutskaya didn’t win in 2006… Arakawa wasn’t even contending in those… by that reasoning neither should lipinski or sarah win in their respective olympics either

I think in a lot of other years she wouldn’t have won. She really got lucky that Irina Slutskaya fell. I’m seriously STILL bitter that my faves in 1998 (Kwan), 2002 (Kwan), and 2006 (Slutskaya) didn’t win, lol.

i agree with you, beautiful performance from Shizuka Arakawa. But for some reason I just love Sasha Cohen, even though she always falls and her jumps, aren’t the cleanest, I love the artistic part of her skating… and to me, her spirals are still the best in the history of ladies figure skating!! I started skating as an adult, and unfortunately, the only thing Sasha and I have in common is the fact that we fall a lot hehe :-)

I’ve been a fan since she skated swan lake wearing the black and white dress… despite her fall I was captivated by her movements… Wow…

Her spirals are my favorite… I’ll look forward to seeing her skate in the olympics!

We’re still rooting for you Sasha! You’re the best!

    Sasha Cohen! FTW!!!

Wayyy im so happy to see that you have remained a Sasha fan for 4 years like me! Its great to know Sasha hasnt lost many fans ^_^ Im thrilled to know she is returning to the 2010 olympics :D She will need every uality to beat Yuna Kim and Mao Asada – if she has a triple triple and perfect jumps – she will win over them with her spirals and expression :D

She’s not as graceful as Sasha… That’s the reason why Sasha is still my favorite…

Shizuka is an amazing skater… A thrill to watch her land all those jumps…

    But… Yeah… Sasha Cohen… ^^

Shizuka is so fantastic. She skated in Detroit for a few seasons and I watched her practice on a regular basis. She is capable of so much more than this performance technically, but she was smart and skated to the competition. Her landings are like butter, and she couldn’t have picked a more fantastic song to skate to. She’s so languid but so purposeful, her style is so unique and lovely.
